FREE SCHOOL MEALS ELIGIBILITY

FREE SCHOOL MEALS ELIGIBILITY

As you know, some children are eligible for Free School Meals, depending upon a number of factors.

During this period of school closure, the provision of these lunches will continue for those families who let us know us that they wish to receive them, but as you would expect, this will be done in a different way.

As this may be a little confusing, just to clarify: all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are currently eligible for a daily school meal as part of the Government’s ‘Universal Infant Free School Meals’ initiative. This is different to ‘Free School Meals’.

Being in receipt of ‘Free School Meals’, also currently provides benefits for children when in school, and includes provision of lunch items during the school day (in term-time) during this period of closure due to the Coronavirus. To see if your child is eligible for ‘Free School Meals’ please click here and visit the 'School Dinners' section for more information. **If you have previously completed the application and your child currently receives Free School Meals (not solely as part of the 'Universal Infant Free School Meals' programme), then there is no need to reapply.

Facebook Updates

Hi everyone, just to keep you all updated on developments. As you will know, this a very fast moving situation and the advice schools are receiving is changing daily. You might not be fully aware, but we are receiving information at the same time as parents and carers, from the news and government briefings at 5pm 😅.

Over the weekend, those parents who had told us they are key workers and that their child required a childcare place on Monday (today) were contacted to let them know that the arrangements had been amended following further guidelines and discussions on Saturday. Originally, childcare was going to be offered at our sister school at Bishop Rawle. However, we consider it imperative to keep our children and school workers as safe as possible in line with government recommendations on social distancing. Therefore children who attend Dilhorne and whose parents are key workers and require childcare places will be offered these at Dilhorne for the time being.

Many parents working in critical sectors may be able to ensure their child or children are kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be.

We will endeavour to keep all parents and carers updated of any changes as and when we receive them, and appreciate you bearing with us and continuing to communicate with us in these unprecedented times. If you do need to call the school, please understand that you may need to leave a message.

At this time our most efficient method of communication is via the Facebook page.  If you do not currently follow us on there we can be found at Dilhorne Endowed Primary School Update Page.

Many thanks for your understanding,
The Dilhorne Team.

Coronavirus Advice

As you will know from the media, the cases of Coronavirus (Covid 19) are currently increasing in the west midlands and globally. As a school, we are continuing to talk to children about the importance of washing hands thoroughly, maintaining good hygiene and acting in a sensible manner to reduce the spreading of any germs.

For further information on how we can all play our part in reducing the spread of the virus, please read the letter in the column to the right of this article.

Our Friends Sing for a Beautiful Cause

Our Friends Sing for a Beautiful Cause

We are delighted to share the exciting news that our friends at The Cheadle Academy have been undertaking something amazing for a very special cause.

On Friday 15th November, The Cheadle Academy Sixth Form Choir released their charity single 'My Oh My', which has been recorded in conjunction with Staffordshire University and the Dougie Mac Hospice.

The choir have been operating for two years and have, to date, raised an incredible £22,000 in memory of the school's wonderful former Senior Assistant Principal, Craig Beverley, who sadly passed away three years ago. We are proud that a number of former pupils from our family of schools have also been involved and, as a Trust, we fondly remember working with Craig.

The song, which is one from Craig's old band (he was a talented musician), can be purchased through:

 https://www.facebook.com/The Cheadle Academy/

There are numerous stories and videos of the progression of the choir over the last 18 months in the build up to the single release on the link too.

Good luck and we think that what you are doing is incredible!

Autumn Fayre and Open Day Thanks

Many thanks to those who were able to join us for the Autumn Fayre and Open Day on Saturday 12th October.

It was lovely to see so many people joining us for a special day and to have a look at our wonderful little school. Huge thanks to: all of the parents, children, friends and staff who were involved in organising, promoting and leading the event; those who helped to set-up and pack-away; anyone who was able to make a donation of any type; and also to the very kind members of the Fire Service who were able to join us.

Due to the generosity of all, our PTA raised a brilliant £485 to support the learning of our children.

If you are thinking about school choices for your child, please come along to our Open Morning at 9.30am on Wednesday 23rd October.

The First TMPF Music Concert

Around 100 children from each of the five schools in The Moorlands Primary Federation joined together to sing and play in the first TMPF Music Concert.

Our young musicians joined performers from each of our TMPF sister schools to wow the large audience with their musical talents. Some of the children have been playing for a few years and some for a few months - each showing their lovely musical skills.
