We have had some feathered friends visiting us this week. Heidi has bought some of her chicks from home to see us in school. The classes have all been able to handle and learn about the chicks. They have been singing in the hall and joining in by watching all the children's activities.
We would like to thank Heidi and her family for allowing us to enjoy their cute feathered friends.

On Friday 13th March our Great Wood children had a Birthday party to celebrate birthdays between the beginning of January and the end of term. Our birthday children received a special birthday cake, baked by our amazing Lesley. The children played games, won prizes and enjoyed a sweet treat. They all had a fantastic time and we would like to thank the Great Wood team for making this possible.

Our year 4 and year 5 children had a two wheel adventure on Friday as they took part in bikeability. They were taught new skills and all about road safety by our bikeability team.
All of the children, who took part, completed the course and will receive Bikeability badges and certificates of achievement.
Well done to all our safe cyclists, we are very proud of you!

Year Six pupils enjoyed an afternoon of creative art thanks to the skills of Mark Hatcher, a representative from the Methodist Church. Pupils made cards and created gifts for Mothers Day. Mark is then preparing Easter art ideas, linking in work from the RE curriculum as we prepare for our Easter celebrations. The pupils loved the opportunity to get sticky and messy while thinking of their wonderful mums.

Our Great Wood family all dressed up today, as a character from their favourite book. We had many Harry Potters, Scarecrows, Marvel characters, Penguins and characters from David Walliams' books.
All of our children and staff looked amazing and we would like to thank them all for all the effort that they have made.

The Great Wood team all donned masks to disguise their identity and read out the famous story of Peter Rabbit!
The children had a great time trying to unmask our readers and guess which member of staff was which character. This was a fantastic way to celebrate World Book Week and every Great Wood child will be receiving a World Book Day voucher, to use as part payment for the next book that they purchase.
Thanks to Mrs Roberts for organising this fantastic event and thank you to our readers and to everyone for joining in. Keep reading!!

In school Mrs Bromley and Mrs Buckley kindly cooked pancakes for all our Key Worker children and our Great Wood team. There were lots of second helpings and everyone really enjoyed their afternoon treat. As you can see from our photographs there were a lot of sticky faces!
